Benchmarking is often viewed as reviewing or stealing secrets from
the competition, in fact its none of the afformentioned. It is a
critically important step in a business being able to evaluate not
only its competition but the internal business units and how they
stack up against best practice and furthermore self evaluation of
the journey to strategic desire through breakdown of business data.

Quite often organisations have the data sets within to be able to
evaluate and effect a change in strategic direction. However,
unlocking the potential with this data is often time consuming and
with cross functional business units can pose a challenge within
itself.
At TDC we have years of experience in analysising and
creating objective reports based on the different data streams. Some
of the outputs can relate to determing the inventory on hand
versus the sales, value perceived from customers against service
level, pricing and service level against the competition.
Not only is this exercise very useful in gaining a relative position
in the market place, but quite often we find the golden nuggest of
success already lay within the organisation, they just have yet to
be unlocked and through robust data analysis technique, critical
review and working in partnership with an organisation we can
produce reports to enhance value within the organisation and a
helpful foothold for strategic planning.
