Multi modal transportation optimisation

Transportation network design is premised on transport mode, inventory and site location strategies which all interlink to perform the required strategic desire of the company in delivering the customer promise. All too often organisations will optimise a sub section of their end to end supply chain which although may bring about quick wins, can have an affect elsewhere upstream in the supply lines.

Taking a holistic view we approach network design by reviewing all variables which have an effect on the day to day operation and furthermore delivery of the customer service level. We not only build a model based around live data, but critically review against best in practice solutions for the relevant industry and can be stress tested for weakness prior to implementation.

Some of the outputs from our modelling include:

·         Vehicle size & type

·         Supplier backhauling integration to own account fleet

·         DC and or cross dock location

·         Centre of gravity mapping by site, frequency or SKU type

·         Sense checking of customer open time windows

·         New contract fesibility and ramifications to existing operation
